 After serving four years in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Topping returned to his native Southern California. After serving a 4,000 hour investigative internship with a premier California law firm,  Mr. Topping became a&amp;nbsp; Licensed Private Investigator in 1975. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Since 1975, Mr. Topping has worked on thousands of cases involving a variety of matters&amp;mdash;from complex civil and criminal cases involving fraud and abuse to background investigations.  &amp;nbsp;His accomplishments are many:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Licensed Private Investigator (CA PI6336)&lt;br /&gt;Certified Paralegal&lt;br /&gt;Authorized E-Verify Agent&lt;br /&gt;2nd Degree Black Belt&lt;br /&gt;Rotarian (twice a Club President)&lt;br /&gt;U.S. Marine&lt;br /&gt;

To achieve this high distinction, an attorney must have taken and passed a written examination in immigration and nationality law, demonstrated a high level of experience in this complex field of law, obtained favorable peer review recommendation, and fulfilled continuing legal education requirements.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Mr. Alcorn has served as a Commissioner on the Immigration and Nationality Law Advisory Commission of the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization. He is admitted to practice law before the United States Supreme Court, offices of the United States Department of Homeland Security throughout all 50 states, all courts of the State of California, all courts of the District of Columbia, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central and Northern Districts of California, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stanford University awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science to Mr. Alcorn in 1970, and he received a Juris Doctor degree from Santa Clara University School of Law in 1973. He served as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the United States Marine Corps from 1974 to 1977, and worked on U.S. immigration matters for a major U.S. corporation from 1977 to 1979. He founded the Law Offices of John R. Alcorn in 1980.&lt;br /&gt;
